My first best friend, the girl I grew up with for 20 years and who made me laugh like no other passed away this week. I’m much better at writing things than actually speaking them so this is my outlet right now. I’m pretty sure without Katie, I wouldn’t be who I am today. We learned so much from each other growing up. We were next door neighbors, sisters at heart and best friends. We played barbies till we were into our teens, had matching bowl haircuts (Mom, that was not ok) and even though our lives may have led us in different directions these past couple years, she will always and forever hold a special place in my heart. I’m looking forward to celebrating her life this weekend because there really is so much to celebrate.

As incredibly hard as it has been this week, I’ve had some really great things happen.

Alicia and Brook’s wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty this week! I am so honored and humbled to be on such an inspirational blog!

My new favorite cover song, Billie Jean by The Civil Wars (Click on the middle performance). I already loved The Civil Wars, now I love them more.

I’m back to being a brunette!

My new blog is ALMOST here!!!!! Thanks a bajillion to Karrie Pyke and Sean Duran. They rock my socks off. I am SO freakin excited to have it and hold it and share it =) Wanna sneaky? Ok!

If you didn’t already know, I’m a total musical geek. I saw Hairspray last week for the 2nd time and it was so much fun that I saw it again last night. But one of my absolute favorite musicals is Rent and I’m so excited to go see it tonight! By the way, the actual show is 1,000,000,000,000 x’s better than the movie.

And last, but most definitely not least. Lola is a whopping 1 years old today! I realize that posting this makes me “that woman” and I may never get asked on another date but she’s just so darn cute!

Today’s what to wear post is dedicated to all you beautiful women who are stumped on what to wear to a boudoir session. Since our boudoir marathon is less than a month away I wanted to share some of my favorite photos and inspiration I’ve found to help you out!

I’m going to start off by saying, you don’t have to be nude for a boudoir session. The whole purpose of a shoot like this is to photograph how beautiful you are. So whatever makes you feel beautiful is what you should put on. That can be anything from; a lace dress, your man’s favorite t-shirt, lingerie or if you want, nothin. Confidence is key when it comes to boudoir, so wear what makes your body look and feel good.

One of my greatest inspirations is by far Elizabeth Messina. Her photographs radiate beauty and her boudoir photos are no exception. Here are a few of my favorites.

Unless you’re blind, you can see how much I love lace. I think it’s the perfect attire for boudoir. It shows just enough without giving it all away.

The following group of photos show that you can really wear anything. I love how simple the first photo is. She’s wearing a sweater. A sweater, people! All of these photos have been acquired from Pinterest. I have a whole board dedicated to boudoir. To see some more inspiration, head HERE.

So, I’m in my car and all of these thoughts are going through my head. Things I’m seeing, things I’m hearing. For all of my twitter followers, I saved you many many unnecessary tweets. I just wanted to share all of my thoughts but I wrote them in my notes as they came to me instead. {Side note, as I’m trying to title my note Random, I keep misspelling it and it auto corrects to Ransom. This happens about three times before I get it right. I thought to myself, if someone saw what I have written in here with the title Ransom, they would surely think I’d lost my marbles.} So, in the span of 2 1/2 – 3 hours, here are a few things I did, heard, thought, saw & ate.

Bright Eyes – First Day of my Life will always be one of my favorite songs. I don’t care how cliche it is.

The yellow wheat field with the sun setting over the mountains behind it literally made me gasp.

Can someone get married at Tejon Ranch? It’s such a beautiful place. Or will wild hogs attack guests??

Well, little did we know at our last session together that Nikki had a little peanut growing inside of her! Once I heard the news, I could not wait to photograph their maternity session. And once again, I was not disappointed one bit. We had so much fun during their session and how could I not capture beautiful photos with a hot mama like Nikki?

Anthony and Nikki, thank you SO much for letting me photograph you during this super exciting time in your life! I cannot wait to meet Kamryn!

Lately, the weeks are flying by! I can’t believe we’re in July. Half of the year is over already, or if your glass is half full, only half of the year is over? Anywho, I got back Friday from an amazing time in Santa Cruz with The Traveling Hearts Society. Those girls fill my inspiration cup to the brim. Today I am 24.

Honestly, 24 doesn’t feel anything different than 23. I feel like it’s an age stand still, nothing exciting really happens. Still have to pay extra to rent a car. I’m not really sure at what age you start feeling actually “different”. Maybe 30? Any who, here are things I am sure about.

Today the country will celebrate my birth with fireworks. duh.

Today I know so much more than I did at this time last year. I’ve laughed, loved and cried (mainly over ridiculous things)

Today I am more thankful for my family and friends than I ever have been.

In lieu of today, here are twenty four things you may or may not know about me.

#1. I’m obsessed with maps. I just like them. Oh, and globes, but the old brown ones, not the bright blue/green modern things. Those are so 2010.

#2. In the last year, I have made 11 extra friends that now, I couldn’t imagine my life without. {THS}

#3. This year I’ve put more miles on my car than I can count.

#4. My best friend got married this year & I got to stand next to her as she became a Mrs.

#5. I was blessed with a new niece in May.

#6. Four letters. Lola. She’s a major pain in my butt sometimes but I love her anyways.

#7. Peonies. My current favorite flowers.

#8. I have a wedding folder on my desktop full of inspiration for my future wedding. You know, in like 10 years.

#9. I do not like modern houses. I would much rather live in an old Victorian. Squeaky floors and all.

#10. One word. stripes.

#11. I am going to visit Venice very soon and ride in a gondola. (seriously)

#12. I couldn’t live without music. It feeds my soul.

#13. I LOVE weddings.

#14. I’ve never been fond of my birthday being on the 4th of July, but next year I’m embracing it. Get ready.

#18. I met Ryan Gosling this year. Well by met, I mean we exchanged “hi’s, how are you’s”. But seriously, it’s the real deal and we’re getting married one day.

#20. I consider myself pretty crafty and hands on. I contribute every ounce of that to my Mama.

#21. I usually wait to fill up my gas tank until it’s way below empty. bad habit.

#22. I’m a procrastinator. my bad.

#23. My heart skips a beat whenever I see a field of wheat.

#24. I’m happy. I think that’s really all that matters.
